Stone Doorway, Kingsgate Bay

Landscape Artist of the Year invited me to join as a Wildcard artist for the heat at Broadstairs Beach, and this is one of my preparatory pieces, painted beforehand in neighbouring Kingsgate Bay. The paint is laid on quite thinly, similar to a watercolour but in acrylics. The sea has cut a 'doorway' in the chalk headland and the calm sea sweeps into the bay before it. While I was sketching the scene, a Mum and her toddler arrived to splash in the sea and they are just visible in the foreground. This painting is sold unframed.
