Jazz Live at the Crypt Julian Siegel Quartet by Hamley Jenkins in London

Jazz Live at the Crypt Julian Siegel Quartet

There's nothing better than sitting in your favourite jazz club and sketching live. I have a regular spot at Jazz Live at the Crypt on a Friday night, sketching the musicians as they play in Wolff's carbon and chalk on grey paper. I think of them as composite drawings and if the performer is very active they may appear several times or in different positions. Here the saxophonist is captured playing on the same saxophone that appears to sit in its stand beside him. These A3 drawings often sell straight off the board!
