Hannahs Hubby and Bub, with Sunflowers and Cat.
In the initial stages I encouraged the client to take a fresh pic as her partner did not actually like the pic of himself we were going to work with! Each of my paintings becomes so developed, and the prospect of beginning with such a wrong first step appalled me. My process has many stages, a few of the steps of which are riddled with the unplanned, the instinctive...or as Bob Ross calls them "happy accidents". other steps in my proces are rigid, unmessupable, and make or break a work. The very first step-choosing a subject is so important. Each time I approach a canvas my intention is to paint the best thing I have ever painted. To start out knowing it was a fail photo? Firm no. So she took a fresh lovely pic for me straight away when I asked...phew! Subjects great but I wanted to unbusy the composition and the sky was lovely but was too yellow. So I asked, as I often do if there was a favorite flower ( thinking of a background with greens, blues, and whites something to bring my subjects to the foreground and contrast the cat.) The client answered that yes sunflowers and lavender were special to them and why, So I am like great...I accept the challenge of making this artwork fabulous with yellow in the background. With a fibonnacci spiral leading the focus from the cats paw, along eyes the colour of the sunflowers and continuing along dads embrace to the beautifully rendered faces of our subjects. With dad looking handsome and bub so cute I am really happy with this little painting.

Meet the Artist
Sunshine Coast, AustraliaI grew up in Victoria and went to Ballarat Uni for a while, then travelled and painted all over Europe and ended up marrying a perfect Dutch bloke in the Netherlands. Needless to say that the art climate over in the Netherlands is much different from that in Australia, and I joined some interesting artistic movements in my time there.
In 1997 I finally managed to convince my husband to move to Australia and we have been in Brisbane and later on the beautiful Sunshine Coast ever since.
I paint landscapes, nature and portraits, but open to other subjects if the need arises.
I especially love portraits of children, as it practically makes me smile all the while I am working on them.
Lastly, my wonderful husband has (finally) turned his hands to framing, so all my paintings are now starting to look even more fabulous, and we will offer the option of a frame with all commissions.
