Female Coalition Gathered To Subdue This Aggressive Male by Artymsrosie in Sunshine Coast

This commissioned piece shows my brave clients abusive ex-boyfriend bound and gagged. The actual painting includes details I have censored here: including the male subjects name and phone number. It is a very disturbing image, and as a proud mother of three wonderful men, I thought about his mother often. As a woman in our patrirachal society, I also relived the times in my life when I have been abused, raped, assaulted and experienced the devastating way victims are further traumatised by the legal system and others opinions. Tragically, the world appears to be going about justice for victims of domestic and sexual violence in a very ineffective way. While the number of reported cases is staggering, the number of unreported cases of simple inappropriate behaviour by some men towards women includes every woman. This is a topic about which I as an artist have a responsability to address. So while the work may upset or even offend you as the viewer, rest assured that while the painting of it was extreme, it is something I am proud to have acheived.
