Mid-November of 2020, Engine Property Group connected with Book An Artist to create a Christmas gift for Melbourne’s community. Engine Property Group wished to bring a little colour back to the city while simultaneously supporting small businesses and the local art scene. Through the Book An Artist platform, Engine selected one of Melbourne’s local graffiti artists, Damian, to paint a community wall mural that would make onlookers stop and say “wow.” The interactive mural design included Australian flora and fauna, hot air balloons, children playing and butterfly wings. Since its completion, the mural has increased foot traffic in the area and created and safe and enjoyable environment for Melbournians.
The Salvation Army commissioned a mural through Book An Artist as a way to remind the community that there is always 'hope.' Inspired by The Salvation Army's founders, Catherine and William Booth, Damien designed a mural that embodied their vision for the local thrift shop. The Salvation Army's slogan 'hope for all' is the foundation of a community mural. Community art murals are a fantastic way of giving back, spreading awareness or promoting hope and positivity.
