James did a wonderful job of illustrating my children’s book. He’s very passionate about his work. His illustrations added humour and creativity into the story, definitely complementing the entire storytelling.

I submitted a painting commission request for my mother’s birthday. James contacted me with enthusiasm when he saw my posting and the picture that I wanted painted. I reviewed James’ prior work and he looked to be an excellent artist with a great talent. I was delighted to give the commission to James and that he was able to complete within my budget range. James was excellent during the process sending me samples and idea suggestions throughout. His understanding on what I wanted was perfect so there was little confusion. James was great to deal with ensuring that the final painting was delivered to me on time. Now I have a fabulous painting and gift for my mother. I would highly recommend James and hope to get him to do another commission in the future. Thanks again James for an excellent job!

About
I am an artist born in 1971 in the south-side of Glasgow, I have lived in Glasgow my whole life and draw inspiration for my art through my faith and the city I live in. Working predominantly in acrylics, and showing a bias towards using monochromatic tones with a subtle splash of colour has become a trademark of mine, this has become my preferred style of painting and helps identify my work, making it interesting, bold, and striking to the viewer. I enjoy using a stylised composition in which I can incorporate bold, vivid tones and express shadows in a harsh environment, where I often mix a surrealism and a modernism style of art. I have had works displayed Glasgow's 'An Unexpected Gallery', and London's 'Capital Arts Gallery', and have received great feedback from both the curators and the public, with much of my work being purchased by collectors of art immediately on being hung on the gallery walls. I recently completed a series of paintings reflecting my vision of a Post Apocalyptic Glasgow, which remains a talking point and has often been referred to as having an almost Gothic atmosphere to it. My work has been well received over the years, and it has been said that my paintings stop people in their tracks. I count myself fortunate enough to have sold many commissions over the years, which are now housed in private collections across the globe. In 2012 after entering an exhibition run by The Archdiocese Of Glasgow for their annual Lentfest art exhibition, run by AGAP, my work was featured for an article in The Glasgow Herald newspaper. It then went on to be displayed in the exhibition, which was held at Glasgow Universities Chaplaincy, alongside works by Jolomo and Peter Howson. My paintings have been exhibited each year since in the Lentfest exhibition. In 2019 I held my first solo art exhibition in a venue in the Gorbals Blessed John Duns Scotus, where images of my paintings were also projected onto a backdrop to accompany a live concert by world renowned classical pianist Alessandra Pompili. I have also had some of my work selected for display in the Edinburgh Art show for Macmillan cancer, with a global audience to help promote and support the fight against cancer , and to support people and their families diagnosed or affected by cancer. Inspired by contrasting shadows, monochromatic tones, the human body and a particular fascination on the power, shape, and differences within peoples hands, I look for ways to incorporate these inspirations into my work. I am particularly comfortable with portrait work , cityscapes and landmarks. Whilst always looking for, and happy to accept , new challenges , I am happy to discuss any possible commissions, after all , the best art in the world is in your imagination, and if you can imagine it, I can paint it. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss any ideas you may have. I will do my best to meet your budget if possible, and offer free no obligation quotes. I take my art very seriously, and I am proud of my reputation to work with you throughout the whole process to make sure that you are 100% happy with the final outcome. I am continuously grateful for the opportunity to paint, and create art , and for the continuose love and support of my family, who are my inspiration and support throughout.
