Where the Sea met the City

Auckland Artist Laura Young has completed another mural in the Auckland CBD. This mural can be found on the corner of Fanshawe Street and Market Place and Laura has entitled her mural "Where the Sea Met the City". The aim of her design is to help create the conversation around climate change and the rising sea level. Laura says, "Fanshawe Street was part of the original coastline of Auckland before the land was reclaimed for city development. "This mural resembles an aquarium as a reminder of how Auckland once was. The creatures seen are common marine animals seen by the Hauraki Gulf coastline. "The city and Sky Tower are a touch of fun and create context around where this snippet of coastline is situated." - Chorus 2023
