The ideal Social Hostel by Brooke Lockwood in Adelaide
The ideal Social Hostel
In Buenos Aires, just a five-minute walk from the Obelisco in Plaza de la República, I created this mural for a hostel nestled in the heart of the city. Surrounded by skyscrapers and buzzing nightlife, the hostel wanted its outdoor lounge to feel like an escape — a place where wildlife takes over and plants bloom, a small leap into the jungle from the city life perhaps.
The mural transforms the space into a tropical retreat: lush green foliage, mountain silhouettes, and native wildlife like the toucan peeking through the leaves. A warm sunset glows in the background, designed to create an inviting atmosphere that truly comes alive at night under the string lights and the red lamp that “ignites” the painted sun.
The jungle theme blends effortlessly with the hostel’s vintage wooden furniture and leafy patio lounge, offering guests a vibrant yet cozy environment — a slice of nature in the middle of Buenos Aires.
