The Continent
The Continent is a satirical illustrated map exploring the emotional, social, and economic landscapes of modern life through the language of cartography.
Inspired by fantasy atlases, old exploration maps, internet culture, and everyday lived experiences, the project transforms familiar life stages, aspirations, and frustrations into physical places that can be navigated like territories on a map.
Regions such as The Employment Frontier, The Wets, Baddie Bay, Love Island, and the Opt-Out Provinces represent the journeys people take while searching for stability, connection, meaning, and occasionally a bit of peace and quiet. Each location serves as both a joke and a reflection of real experiences, inviting viewers to recognize parts of themselves within the landscape.
Created through detailed digital illustration and world-building, the project combines humor, symbolism, and visual storytelling to explore themes of ambition, relationships, identity, work, escapism, and belonging. The map rewards close observation, with every region, landmark, and icon contributing to a larger narrative about navigating adulthood in a rapidly changing world.
At its core, The Continent asks a simple question:
If our struggles, dreams, coping mechanisms, and aspirations were actual places, what would the map of our lives look like?

Nairobi, KenyaI'm a Kenyan illustrator, animator, and visual storyteller working at the intersection of satire, culture, and design. My work is driven by a simple belief: the most memorable ideas are the ones that make people laugh, think, or do both at the same time.
Professionally, my background spans data systems, operations, and visual communication, which gives me a unique approach to creative work. I enjoy taking complex concepts—whether they're social issues, business ideas, cultural observations, or technical subjects—and translating them into visuals that are clear, engaging, and full of personality.
My creative practice includes illustration, character design, editorial and satirical artwork, animation, motion graphics, branded content, infographics, and narrative-driven visual storytelling. I'm particularly drawn to projects that blend humor with insight, whether that's creating original characters, designing culturally inspired artwork, developing animated content, or crafting visuals that spark conversation.
Much of my inspiration comes from everyday life in Kenya, internet culture, gaming, technology, absurd humor, and the strange ways people navigate modern society. I love observing small details, exaggerating them through art, and turning them into stories that feel both familiar and unexpected.
When I'm not illustrating, I'm usually developing personal projects under my creative brand, Kesi Baadaye, exploring experimental animation concepts, creating satirical visual series, or finding new ways to combine art, storytelling, and technology.
Clients work with me because I bring both creativity and structure to every project. I'm comfortable moving from rough concepts and sketches all the way to polished final artwork, and I care deeply about creating visuals that are not only aesthetically strong but also communicate effectively.
