Sandra Bland 2019 by SOEMS in Boston
Sandra Bland 2019
This painting was made for the showcase “What’s not working” curated by Johnette Ellis. She is the reason this piece came to life. She posed the question of what’s not working for us as individuals, and what struck us deeply. For me, it was the heroic truth that Sandra had when she spoke. The portrait of her is to show her in the light of an angel keeping in eye out for the injustices that exists. The siren lights in her eyes truly shows what in my mind was her focus.
