Landscape with lupins by Sarah Cripps in Leighton Buzzard
Landscape with lupins
This landscape is all about nature: the morning sunshine, dramatic mountains and flowers soaking up the light. ??There is a variety of brushwork and a mix of warm and cool colours. The sun trying to show through the hazy clouds draws the eye backwards from the foreground over the mountains, and there is a balance of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines.????Reference photo by kind courtesy of Aneta Foubikova.

Meet the Artist
Leighton Buzzard, United KingdomThank you for looking at my page! I love to paint people, animals and nature.
With a Master’s degree in Victorian Studies, I’ve always been fascinated by the art of the turn of the 20th century, especially Van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, Picasso and Hopper.
For part of my career I was lucky enough to be in an international organisation, which meant travelling all over the world. That gave me the chance to experience different nature, culture, art, light, colour and form, as well as turning me into a travel junkie... 52 countries visited so far and counting!
As you’d expect with this background, my themes relate to nature, travel, people and animals. I focus on oil painting because I love the vibrancy and viscosity of the medium. I aim to use joyful colour palettes and I’m interested in the indication of form in the mind’s eye. With portraits especially I like to have a sense of narrative, capturing a moment of emotion or thought.
