Landscape Norway by Sarah Cripps in Leighton Buzzard
Landscape Norway
This landscape provides opportunities to play with a big sky, rolling scenery and an explosion of flowers in the foreground. Focusing on our place in nature, the cottage is small and prosaic compared with the drama of the sky and the flowers. There is a rich, oriental colour palette and use of vertical, horizontal and curved lines draw the eye from front to back.

Meet the Artist
Leighton Buzzard, United KingdomThank you for looking at my page! I love to paint people, animals and nature.
With a Master’s degree in Victorian Studies, I’ve always been fascinated by the art of the turn of the 20th century, especially Van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, Picasso and Hopper.
For part of my career I was lucky enough to be in an international organisation, which meant travelling all over the world. That gave me the chance to experience different nature, culture, art, light, colour and form, as well as turning me into a travel junkie... 52 countries visited so far and counting!
As you’d expect with this background, my themes relate to nature, travel, people and animals. I focus on oil painting because I love the vibrancy and viscosity of the medium. I aim to use joyful colour palettes and I’m interested in the indication of form in the mind’s eye. With portraits especially I like to have a sense of narrative, capturing a moment of emotion or thought.
