This painting is made from oil paints on stretched canvas. It depicts a native american woman smoking a cigarette with primary colors of paint on her skin. The image is inspired by my grandmother who was a strong influence on my artistic upbringing. She was tied to her spiritual roots and the smell of smoke is a nostalgic scent that always reminds me of her. The element I am most proud of is the the seriousness of the subjects face which represents to the feminine power and beauty my grandmother had.

Quil, a 30-year-old artist and teacher, finds inspiration in the color purple. Her greatest creation, is her tiny doppelganger, a cool dude who shares her passion for creativity. Quil dabbles in ceramics, writing, collage, interior design, color theory, painting, digital design, and more. She believes that success means always creating new things out of old material. She lives by the notion that every experience is a potential spark of knowledge or inspiration—even setbacks can lead to new ideas and opportunities.
