Angel of the Norf by Hanna Benihoud Studio in London
Angel of the Norf
Angel of the Norf is a new mural painting for the Markfield Road festival. I lived in Newcastle for many years and loved how the Angel of the North looms large over the entrance to the city. This is my own interpretation, a North London girl named Angel sprawled over Tottenham. The artwork is inspired by the women that dare to unapologetically take up space. The mural spills into the street taking over electrical boxes and lamp posts.
I am an artist with a background in architecture and a passion for creating work that brings people and places to life. I run an interdisciplinary studio that specialises in mural painting, illustration, and sculpture, often working in public spaces to spark connection and joy.
Whether it’s a bold mural, a playful sculpture, or a detailed illustration, I use storytelling and design to create pieces that feel rooted in their surroundings. I love working on projects with a social conscience and always aim to make art that’s engaging, thoughtful, and full of character.
I have had my illustrations exhibited in a large open air solo exhibition in King Cross, I have worked with many local authorities to transform unloved spaces with immersive murals and I have created both temporary and permanent sculpture for public space.
I work with a large group of talented freelancers from craftspeople to mural teams which means my studio expands as needed for the project in hand. This means the we deliver the highest quality art work and no ideas are off the table
