Inside Out by Hanna Benihoud Studio in London

‘Inside Out’ is an immersive mural in Edmonton, North London. The artwork pulls you in from the highstreet and leads you through the undercroft of a housing estate. 'Inside Out' was commissioned by Enfield Council as part of the Good Growth Fund. The artwork was inspired by engagement with local residents where we posted 1000 postcards through doors inviting residents to be part of the process. The engagement was facilitated through workshops with the 'Dream, Believe, Succeed' youth group led by Edmonton Community Partnership. We also worked closely with Fisher Cheng architects to integrate the artwork with public realm improvements. The engagement was all about ‘Your Happy Place’ and we got a plethora of responses. The key themes that stood out was being in nature and home comforts. This artwork combines these 2 seemingly opposing ideas with a bespoke floral wallpaper design. The wallpaper was inspired by the national flowers of the countries the local community are from as reported in the census data.
