Deconstructed Disco by Hanna Benihoud Studio in London

How do you get the public to talk to you about the night time? Perhaps we can use art? The Deconstructed Disco is about discovering the transformation of the city at night-time and uncovering the multitude of feelings and experiences it brings up. The Deconstructed Disco was commissioned by Wandsworth Council to get people to feed into the consultation for their Night Time Strategy. I worked with local youth clubs to co- produce the artwork. The Deconstructed Disco explore 5 different emotions about the night explored through sculpture, audio and animation. For 5 days an installation was shown at Clapham Junction Station and for 5 nights projections toured the bourough of Wandsworth. The installation had a dramatic effect on the participation of the public in the consultation process highlighting the ability of public art to creatively engage communities.
