Year of the Tiger by Shaveen Kateleen in Brisbane
Year of the Tiger
A 'Year of the Tiger' themed mural I designed and painted for an Inala based law firm. Each year the firm celebrates Chinese New Year by painting a glass panel in their office with the Chinese animal being celebrated. The brief was for a cute/chubby tiger in a cartoonish style and has been painted on glass using acrylic paints.
Meet the Artist
Brisbane, AustraliaI am a Brisbane-based mural artist specialising in custom murals for residential and commercial spaces. My practice is highly versatile, allowing me to work across both illustrative and realistic styles to suit the needs of each project. This flexibility enables me to adapt my approach to different environments, creating artwork that feels thoughtfully designed and unique to the space.
Much of my work combines bold graphic design elements with detailed, lifelike painting. While many of my earlier murals feature playful illustrative forms and clean graphic shapes, I am increasingly exploring a direction that layers realistic imagery over vibrant colour fields and strong compositions. This approach blends the visual impact of graphic design with the depth and atmosphere of realism.
I have created murals for a range of environments including homes, gyms, offices and commercial spaces. Each project begins with a collaborative design process where I work closely with clients to develop concepts that reflect their vision while responding to the architecture and function of the space.
I enjoy creating murals that feel integrated with their environment - artwork that transforms ordinary walls into spaces people want to spend time in. Whether the goal is to create a bold feature wall, an immersive scenic mural or a playful illustrated design, my aim is always to bring personality, energy and a sense of place to the environment.
