Unfinished Business (2020)
This work marked the beginning of first real journey into painting as work. I'd finally moved into my first home and begun this work on the Jan 22 2020. It's funny to look at this work now, it really captures how the COVID period felt for me. Upside down, out of place. Leisurely, yet strange and uncomfortable.
I was inspired in capturing the movement of light and colour through various textures and depths. Trying to understand how light bounces, refracts or diffuses depending on the surface texture (glass, carpet, velvet, plaster walls).
The intent was to render the woman completely in the space, but I left this work to start my first big girl commission (Twiggy). It would be fun to polish it off, but leaving it unfinished feels most accurate to that time.

Hamilton, AustraliaI have always called Brisbane home and have been painting since childhood. My background is in academic Art History and Philosophy, and I have 10 years experience in painting. My passion lies in translating the unknown, a potentially futile attempt that will last a lifetime. I have 14 painting commissions under my belt ranging from portraits to landscapes and still life. I'm a self taught artist and have been actively studying (and working) for the past 7 years. On the side I have worked in customer service and marketing.
My area of comfort is abstract portraiture and figure work, but I love new creative challenges! My range of interest in style, technique and medium is broad.
