THE NAZI-BRIDE by Political Satirical Pop Art in Berlin
THE NAZI-BRIDE
The Nazi-Bride, 200 x 150 cm (78,7 x 59,1 in),
Acrylic on canvas, 2008
The painting “Nazi Bride” shows a film sequence from the silent film drama “Vendetta” from 1919 and depicts Pola Negri, Hitler & Göbbels' favorite actress. Her posture, facial expressions and gestures radiate hardness, lack of empathy, arrogance, dominance and contempt. The character appears ambivalent in her portrayal with hard edges and lines. A nurse who does not seem to be what is commonly understood of her, but rather a “bride” who pretends to want good but creates evil.
This work has been shown in many exhibitions in Germany.
Meet the Artist
Berlin, GermanyI am an freelance visual artist, communication scientist, lecturer and author with a diploma in fine arts and design and a Master of Arts in communication design, media theory, and philosophy, living and working in Berlin, Germany.
My art utilizes the language of Pop Art, which is both figurative and realistic. Formal structures collide with the figurative image. Evocative visual symbols are incorporated into structures of form, color, line and composition based on painterly technique. Over 20 years experience my (often) large-format acrylic paintings based on socially relevant themes are accompanied by collages on paper caricaturing current events in politics.
I aim to present conditions through exaggeration, projecting my overstated perception of our everyday reality onto people or objects via the image and the title. I define my works as ‚Political Satirical Pop Art“.
Receiving exhibition support and grants from institutions, foundations and sponsors, my works have been shown in museums, galleries and association worldwide.
