Gain an insight into the various creative possibilities of art. This course teaches the basics of acrylic, pastel, and collage. Through practical exercises, focus on artists and artistic movements of the 19th and 20th centuries such as Edgar Degas, Dadaism, and Pop Art, we will reflect on theoretical content and then realize our pictorial concepts. Your course instructor answers your questions in English. Additional information: Materials: Pigments + acrylic paints (primary color), acrylic pencils, binders, charcoal pencils, brushes, fixers, pastels, paper, scissors, glue, etc. can be obtained from the course instructor for a contribution towards expenses of 20 EUR. Meet the Artist

DIKLA STERN

Berlin, Germany

I am an freelance visual artist, communication scientist, lecturer and author with a diploma in fine arts and design and a Master of Arts in communication design, media theory, and philosophy, living and working in Berlin, Germany. My art utilizes the language of Pop Art, which is both figurative and realistic. Formal structures collide with the figurative image. Evocative visual symbols are incorporated into structures of form, color, line and composition based on painterly technique. Over 20 years experience my (often) large-format acrylic paintings based on socially relevant themes are accompanied by collages on paper caricaturing current events in politics. I aim to present conditions through exaggeration, projecting my overstated perception of our everyday reality onto people or objects via the image and the title. I define my works as ‚Political Satirical Pop Art“. Receiving exhibition support and grants from institutions, foundations and sponsors, my works have been shown in museums, galleries and association worldwide.
