Taste of Apulia by Simona in London
Taste of Apulia
This mural, created with the support of the Council of Sava (Taranto, Apulia), is part of a project to revitalise the local market area through art, celebrating the traditions and beauty of Apulian food, landscapes and culture.
The floral decoration becomes a pattern framing the two windows, turning them into “views” of the countryside and linking the building’s different façades. The caper flower is, to me, the best symbol of Sava and Puglia.
The caper plant holds everything: the beauty of the flower, the fragrance, and above all, the flavour—so distinctive in many of our dishes. It is a plant and fruit we often take for granted, but living abroad made me realise how precious, sought after and appreciated it truly is.
Meet the Artist
London, United KingdomHi, I'm Simona, a freelance illustrator originally from Italy and now based in London. I specialise in commercial illustrations and hand-painted murals.
I create timeless illustrations in a fast-paced world.
Blending hand-made textures with digital techniques, my work has a modern yet nostalgic touch, connecting us to tradition while resonating with today’s audience.
I specialise in emotionally rich illustrations that do more than decorate; they invite people into your story, whether it’s a book cover, an editorial piece, a mural, poster or an ad campaign.
Every project I create adds depth, emotion, and new value.
