'Sekhmet', the Egyptian Goddess of War. She reminds me that righteous anger is sacred to encourage change for the better and to relinquish the self-minimalisation of Black Anger (see: "Angry Black Woman"). Sekhmet was an ancient Egyptian goddess of war and healing. She was often depicted as a powerful lioness or a woman with the head of a lioness. Sekhmet was associated with the sun and was seen as a protector of Ma’at, the goddess of truth, justice, and harmony. The ancient Egyptians believed that Sekhmet had the power to bring disease and destruction to those who went against her will. Sekhmet was also seen as a healer and was thought to have the power to cure illnesses, especially those associated with the head and eyes. Sekhmet was the daughter of the sun-god Ra, and was worshipped in temples throughout Egypt. 120cmx 90cm
