Prè by Sean Isaac Troth | Art in Birmingham

This painting was created with acrylic paint on a 40x30cm stretched canvas. It depicts a dark and atmospheric street scene in Prè, an eccentric neighbourhood in the old town of Genoa. Walking through these streets was a fascinating experience, and one I had to paint. In the scene, a shopkeeper peers down the street at you, the viewer, as a slit of light beams across the pavement towards him from the side street on the right hand side. A bright blue-green sky stretches out tantalisingly beyond the tall orange and brown terraces below.
