I See You, I Saw You by Abbey Rich in Melbourne
I See You, I Saw You
The seesaw, titled I See You, I Saw You, operates like any other. It requires two people to function; one must rise for the other to lower, in an act of balance, interdependence and quiet collaboration. By placing this traditional children’s toy in a sculptural context, the work encourages relaxation, connection, and a reimagining of how public space can be shared.
Medium: Steel
Meet the Artist
Melbourne, AustraliaHello! I am a public and exhibiting artist whose practice centres on public space, particularly community co-designed public art. Collaboration, participation, and site responsiveness are foundational pillars of my work.
I create works that are approachable and inclusive, using colour, pattern, and warmth to create welcoming and engaging environments. While best known for bold, colourful murals, my practice has expanded into three-dimensional public art, with major commissions for the City of Casey, Yapang Sculpture Park and Camden Council.
My work is held in collections across Australia, the UK, the USA, and Asia.
