Homewood Harvest murals by Marlana in Pittsburgh

This project consisted of a series of murals I completed for the Oasis Project, showing themes related to the agricultural education program for Homewood Preschool. The overall theme of the murals focused on positive cultural representation through learning and play, so I wanted the children to be able to envision themselves as the main characters. It consisted of six 85 sq ft panels for a total of 510 sq ft, so even though these are separate paintings they all had to look cohesive. These paintings were also combined with the Sew to Harvest Trail project to complete the courtyard design, so I had to be flexible and modify some aspects of my designs to match as the courtyard was being constructed. I also helped Graham Projects with painting some of the Sew to Harvest Trail so that I could gain experience with courtyard design and painting asphalt murals.
