This artwork is inspired by the natives in the Malay Archipelago in the study of Anthropology.
With the advent of digitalisation, it has undergone a massive cultural evolution. From being a typical traditional to a more contemporary narrative in its art interpretations.
Situated between the Indian and Pacific Oceans, the archipelago of over 25,000 islands and islets is the largest archipelago by area and fourth by number of islands in the world. It includes Brunei, East Malaysia, East Timor, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines. The term is largely synonymous with Maritime Southeast Asia.
"Fabric Of Society" has now assimilated with the local culture. It has interwoven into the community and is adaptive to the multicultural elements. Unity in diversity.
What inspires me in doing art is the everyday objects that I observed surrounding me. Environment. Nature. People. Culture. Fashion.
A self-taught artist, Art R’eev transforms “Trash Into Treasure” in his mixed media works. He finds creative ways to reuse materials and conserve resources to address issues of environmental change, and the concepts of up-cycling and recycling are central to his practice. What may have been regarded as ‘ugly’ is now turned into the beautiful in Art R’eev’s colourful and energetic abstract works.
