"Singing In The Rain '' is made out of old cassette tapes that have been collected over 30 years. Now, it has become obsolete. Something that is old and deemed as "Trash" has transformed into something new and aesthetically pleasing.
It has a dual utilitarian purpose. One as an umbrella holder and another as an art installation for your home interior decor.
"Singing In The Rain" is titled as such because it incorporates the cassette tapes. The absence of music psychologically makes you imagine the music exists in your mind. A more of a visual interpretation rather than audionary.
The umbrella symbolises both good and bad omen. On a more positive note, the symbolism of The Guardian Angel that protects you from rain and shine. To the Chinese belief, it is bad luck to open an umbrella indoors. On the other hand, according to the Malay belief that by opening the umbrella in the house, it will invite snakes. But, today, in the age of digitalisation, these beliefs are seen as superstitious by the younger generations.
