Cask and Clyde Mural - Glasgow by Douglas Findlay Art in Glasgow
Cask and Clyde Mural - Glasgow
This mural is painted in the Double Tree Hilton Glasgow Central. It is located in the main stairwell leading from the carpark to the reception, bar and other rooms. It takes inspiration from landmarks around Glasgow, as well as the main colour scheme of the restaurant in the hotel called the Cask and Clyde. Before commencing work I met with the Director of Operations and the Food and Beverage Manager to discuss the feel of the work they required and so that I could tie the theme together with their hotel, restaurant and Glasgow. I created a sketch of my idea before it was approved.
I generally used brushes to create this mural, as well as a small amount of spray paint. I wanted to create a piece that reflected the colours of Scotland. I particularly enjoyed painting the layers on the whisky barrel, the lettering and also the crane. It was also painted on an uneven surface.
Meet the Artist
Glasgow, United KingdomLondon based artist. Inspired by people, places, feelings and emotions. I produce a variety of work ranging from sketches, abstracts, landscapes, seascapes and expressive pieces about things that happen in my life. I love meeting people and hearing their story. Everyone has their own story, I use art as a way to express mine. It's important for me to make art accessible, whether that's through price point, sharing my process, engaging with the public or creating a sketchbook of memories of a special occasion such as a wedding or an event. I am very versatile as an artist and enjoy using a variety of mediums. I also really enjoy painting live and working with the public outdoors.
