i am andrea (he/they), i am visual artist, I left Italy after my diploma to study in the Royal academy of Art in the Hague, netherlands, where i’m currently based. my practice started with photography and video making to then discover performance and installation, it evolved in time on observing and studying peoples interaction and their way to approach today's reality. my interest in tools to use goes to every type of camera or way of recording images, to the discovery of a space with the movment of a body. As a trans artist i also feel the need to bring in my work my point of view especially on how i deal with today’s society. i use walking and traveling as a way of research, meeting people and having experience as my first way to understand something, this brings me to make people stop for a second because i feel that in this society there is no more time to stop and observe something and give importance to what is around us. And thanks to my admiration to nature i like bringing into to my work a sense of surreality and a feeling of loosing the way in what we percieve as reality. there are specific ideas in our everyday society that triggers me, as a trans artist in fact i want to bring a different idea of norms related to gender and sexuality, trying to bring a different point of view on the binary way we see them. i would like to make people do a step back and rethink some of the construction they believe in and to to reconsider their perspectives on theirs and others' identities. The central message I seek to convey through my art is an invitation for individuals to question the meaning of being alive in the present moment, and that not all the questions have always a clear answer.
