About
Talya is a local Eurasian artist based in Singapore, drawing upon her background in psychology and architecture to craft spaces that inspire healing and engagement with her artwork. Her creations embody authenticity, emotional expression, and the revitalization of restrictive urban spaces through the introduction of organic forms and elements from nature. One of her standout murals, titled "Beauty out of Chaos", garnered international news attention for its exploration of transformation. Painted on an Evolving Staircase in Peace Centre (2023), the artwork invited viewers to interact with the space, discovering beauty amidst the disarray of a vandalized staircase. Talya's commitment to infusing everyday spaces with beauty was also evident at the Singapore Night Festival in August 2023, where she transformed a room within the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd into a captivating "Garden of Beauty," uniting communities through spirituality and involvement in contribution to the art installations. She enjoys bringing people together through art, creating spaces, telling a story through her artworks, and allowing things to unravel organically. Her love for art was restored after a life pivot when she left her architecture job and decided to reconnect with her innate love for art. That's when she realized that art could heal. Her mission revolves around facilitating healing through the therapeutic effects of art-making and restoring people's innate creativity. She has conducted mindful and reflective art workshops for hundreds of individuals, including clients such as Google, Clarity, PUB, NUHS, and PSA. Talya also has experience in book illustration, having contributed to projects such as "The Clan at Large" (a Eurasian Family History book, particularly the food recipe section) and "Fold Me To The Moon" (a children's storybook). She has also undertaken commissioned large-scale paintings. Additionally, she has adorned shops in the Joo Chiat area with murals and adapted murals for companies to reflect their essence and mission. Her art has been exhibited internationally, including in Perth, Australia, at Emma Rose The Library, Fi & Co in collaboration with Cherish, and as a guest artist in a digital exhibition commissioned by the National Arts Council, titled "Tales under the Neon Trees." Furthermore, she served as the president of a faith-based artist group that explored the intersection of art, faith, and the Beauty of God.
