About
Born in Chicago, self-taught, Jake began his artistic career in the Summer of 2012 after moving to Los Angeles. Within a year, Jake had firmly planted his feet in the LA scene by partaking in local group exhibitions, and regularly installing public murals throughout the city. Since 2013 he has been traveling to paint large-scale murals, and create private installations all over, specializing in freehand aerosol mural work. Jake debuted his first solo show in his home town in Spring 2015, while he took residency again in Chicago. At the this time he also began working in design, and gained his first commission as creative director for a restaurant interior. Jake has branched into fashion and art direction, while continuing to contribute local and international mural and design work. Merten’s talents can be found showcased in various product designs, at mural and music festivals, special events, and in gallery exhibitions.
