I am a self-taught artist based in Singapore. I had a dream to create artworks to visually delight, communicate with and invoke thoughts in the viewer. The journey that I began in 2008, wasn’t easy and I can recollect at least a handful of paintings that I physically discarded after being dissatisfied with them! Years of practice, pouring over art books, learning about colour theories, depth and perspectives as well as tons of experimenting has helped me build knowledge and understanding of some of the aspects of art. I have worked on several themes, tried different styles and worked with multiple mediums. I enjoy working with acrylics, oils as well as watercolours and have used painting knives extensively in some of my oil works.
I paint instinctively and from the heart. I usually begin with a simple emotion or belief and portray it on a canvas. My inspirations are mostly from nature, people, our emotions, things we see and what we revere. I work with a variety of subjects – figurative, landscapes, cityscapes, still life, cultural, famous monuments, etc. I have successfully participated in group art shows and done several commissioned pieces. I always enjoy the collaboration process involved in making a commissioned artwork and the delight it brings them when they see their ideas take shape!
