Conor was very accommodating getting the perfect portrait done for me in time for Christmas. He carried out the work within the timeframe requested and did so to an extremely high standard. He gave initial advice on changes that should be made to the photograph which he was using for reference which enhanced the picture. He captured the physical features of the person in the photo and produced a beautiful background to go with. He always replied very quickly whenever I had a question and was a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend!

About
Conor McGuire's artistic prowess shines brightly in his luminous and exquisitely textured paintings, drawing viewers into timeless visions of his beloved Western Ireland. With a deep-rooted desire to convey the region's isolation and its unwavering picturesque charm, McGuire's artistic focus lies on capturing the essence of small towns, local characters, pristine nature, and traditional music. However, amidst these idyllic settings, he skillfully introduces occasional modern details such as wristwatches, camera-toting tourists, and electronic keyboards, adding a layer of complexity to the illusion of isolation. McGuire's aesthetic choices beautifully mirror the delicate tension between the region's vernacular and contemporary sensibilities. His artistic approach gracefully oscillates between a gentle, impressionist landscape style reminiscent of the great Monet and an expressionist mode in his portraiture, where the edges of the canvas blur into abstract forms. This juxtaposition encapsulates the essence of McGuire's artistic journey, balancing the traditional with the modern. A rhythmic quality harmoniously unites the diverse stylistic variations found within McGuire's paintings. This rhythm manifests most tangibly in his portraits of musicians, where the musical tones seem to ripple over the surrounding spaces and architecture, creating a symphony of visual and auditory sensations. In his depictions of streets, towns, fields, and seascapes, a subtler yet equally potent cadence emerges from the repetition of shapes, the fluidity of shifting forms, and the interplay of alternating colours. Through these captivating rhythms, McGuire's paintings invite viewers to experience lives and landscapes pulsating at a different tempo—a rhythm that transports them to the heart of Western Ireland. Born and raised in the scenic west of Ireland, Conor McGuire intentionally chose to reside there, allowing the local rural landscapes and towns to influence his artistic expression. His technique seamlessly transitions between realism and abstraction, with his artistic home in an impressionistic impasto style. McGuire finds inspiration in the ever-changing light and quality of the west of Ireland, effortlessly capturing its transient nature in his subjects. His chosen subjects, timeless and devoid of political or analytical undertones, convey a sense of the region's quirky essence, timelessness, friendliness, and sheer beauty. McGuire adapts his medium based on the subject matter at hand. He favours oils for landscapes and townscape paintings, while acrylics take centre stage in his abstract creations. His brushstrokes are richly textured, allowing the paint to convey and suggest form and detail, immersing the viewer in a lush visual experience. Through his art, Conor McGuire seeks to communicate the joy of being alive and living a fulfilling life in a truly unique and enchanting place. Conor McGuire's profound talent and artistic vision are showcased in gallery exhibitions and online, where his captivating works can be appreciated by a wider audience. His paintings serve as gateways to the soul of Western Ireland, capturing the enduring beauty and captivating rhythm that permeate its landscapes, towns, and people.
