Michael Black

My name is Michael and I'm a Sydney based Abstract Artist, who creates murals, original art, prints and illustrations for a local and international market. I've had the privilege of painting large and small scale murals both interior and exterior. I particularly like to compliment the natural space and architectural environment in my mural design. I enjoy working with the client to achieve their vision of bringing the space to life. I lot of my murals incorporate colours and symbols that reflect the brand, space or people who occupy the space. I always do a digital design of the mural and mockup in the space to present to the client before painting. This process enables me and the client to visualise the artwork in the space to achieve the best outcome. Illustrating has always been a strong element of my practice starting from an early age when I would often draw cartoons. Throughout the years my style has grown and developed professionally. I've had the privilege to work across a range of projects from branding and packaging to fashion and editorial. My style is influenced through street and skate culture, along with incorporating symbols from the environment or brand. My illustrations have driven me into new spaces and I am always looking to push my work both physically and digitally. Through my style, I aim to bring you into a new understanding of the world around you and create a greater sense of purpose in life.
