About
Mercedes is a visual artist from Michigan in the United States. Drawing ever since she was old enough to hold a pencil, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2015. She has created on the floor of her bedroom, on walls in public spaces, and at multiple music festivals and events throughout the world to merge the introverted experience of creation with the communal delight of art's unfolding. Her works now live in the USA, Australia, Colombia, and Thailand. Her work explores the energetic and spiritual interconnection of our planet as a practiced antidote to apathetic heaviness of daily life. Her meditations on the human experience honor and refine optimistic, psychedelic color palettes with a deeply attentive, confident approach. Thematic anchors of femininity, rest, and grace toward the self are narrated with buoyant lines and soft transitions that simultaneously soothe and enliven. These works are not only a catharsis of the soul, but a celebration of it. She currently creates in Perth, Western Australia.
