Ellie makes art to empower people through visual story telling. Ranging from emotional visual metaphors to whimsical fantasy scenes, their work aims to draw the viewer in with bone-deep familiarity and celebrate the fact that they are the glorious writer of their own tale.
Ellie made the leap from a hobby artist to a professional one in 2020, in the first week of lockdown. The company they were working for needed an artist for an online lockdown game, and they put up their hand and said 'I can do that'. They spent the next couple of years doing digital artwork in all sorts of styles and honing their craft. This trial by fire made them the artists they are today. In the process of learning other art styles, they found theirs, and became comfortable taking on unusual and challenging projects.
They went independent as an artist in 2023 and moved into commissioned work and running an online shop. These days they've expanded their work away from just digital, and work chiefly in watercolour, gouache and acrylic. They love expressive colours, dynamic composition, chaotically splattered paint, and artwork that glows on the page. In 2024, they completed their first public art commission, and had works exhibited in several galleries and online platforms. They're currently working on illustrations for TTRPG books, and private commissions.
Ellie is Lincoln based, and when not painting they can be found planting too many vegetables in the garden, playing dungeons and dragons on 'Flintlocks and Fireballs' podcast, or dressed up in fantasy gear doing field LARPs.
