Together we Rise Mural by Hugo Medina in Freeville

Ace Uniforms - 1506 E McDowell Rd, Phoenix, AZ To honor the dedication of frontline workers during the coronavirus pandemic, Phoenix-based artist Hugo Medina created a mural at Ace Uniforms, completed in March 2021. This project was a collaboration between Medina, Downtown Phoenix Inc., and Ace Uniforms, which serves a diverse clientele in hospitality, industrial sectors, medical fields, and public safety. The mural features a central image of Lauren Leander, an intensive care nurse who advocated for scientific guidance during anti-lockdown protests in April 2020. Additional depictions include a grocery store cashier, landscaper, sanitation worker, firefighter, police officer, teacher, postal worker, and chef. Following an arm injury sustained by Medina in mid-February 2021, local artists Chris Vena and Darrin Armijo-Wardle assisted in completing the mural. Ace Uniforms generously provided the wall space, with Medina donating his time and Downtown Phoenix Inc. supplying materials. The total estimated cost for the mural was approximately $72,000. Measuring 40 feet by 190 feet, the artwork was finalized in 2021.
