the ugly duckling by Rui in Singapore

This was inspired by our childhood fairytale "the ugly duckling". Like how the moral of the story is: to accept and love ourselves the way we are, this piece portrays the way we see ourselves like this ducky sees itself(as a rubber ducky; though artificial, but well loved), we often imagine ourselves to meet distorted societal standards or what is seen as "perfect". As this pandemic leaves us more time for ourselves, we could spend more time to absorb ourselves in self love and take time away from social media. Who knows you might find out something new about yourself and love yourself a little more while caring less about others' opinion.
