The saints of Safi by Art4Brains in Qingdao

The saints of Safi

This painting, while abstract in style, draws heavily from the architectural forms etched into my memory from the old villages of Morocco. It also pays homage to the sacred pilgrimage sites scattered throughout the country—places where Muslims, Jews, Berbers, and other sub-Saharan communities have gathered for centuries to honor revered saints. At the heart of the composition, subtly woven into the shapes of the houses, is the Hand of Fatma, a spiritual symbol of protection and blessing. Surrounding this are abstract representations of sky and mountains, all unified by bold colors and defined black contour lines. The work captures a layered narrative of place, faith, and shared heritage through a contemporary visual lens. This piece was not sold, my mother took it and it is now hers. :)
