The road well travelled
Intentionally designed to leave a long- lasting and thought-provoking impression; the image depicts an aging man of unprescribed origins, deliberatelytempting the imagination of viewers, invoking discussions of perception and presumption; What has been his life journey?
Why has he chosen to leave his homeland? And from where has he come? A subtle statement from the artist has
a simple Kangaroo badge suggestively pinned to the man’s shirt, possibly alluding to the ‘inclusive’ culture of this country and its people; offering refuge and opportunity to the many migrants who have landed on our shores in decades gone by.
With an expression that implies a natural playfulness and well-maintained ability to continue to explore life with childlike wonder; the immigrant
appears naturally inquisitive - assumingly, an approach he’s applied to a life well-lived.
Now the custodian of a plethora of timeless knowledge and worldly experiences, the immigrant invites any opportunity for a social exchange; openly sharing his learnings with a gentle ease that sees him be experienced as easily relatable, to anyone he encounters.
The addition of several suitcases in the image adds context to his story, silently inviting further pondering and discussions from viewers, who may contemplate; just what stories may lie buried in their depths; and what worldly possessions, he has deemed necessary be kept...
From a lifetime of making Art, Mike’s skill set is broad as is his range of creative influences.
His driving passion for creating stemmed from an early love of comic books and cartoons and later developed to the influences of action sports, urban and rural landscapes, people and wildlife, concrete and culture.
Today Mike’s illustrative and bold imagery continues to capture the magic of the world around him.
Mike places a massive emphasis on quality over quantity, forever developing his own unique and unforgettable style. Whether it’s a pair of skis, a beer label, a company logo, or of course, his preferred size canvas: Large Scale Outdoor Murals, the style is always unmistakably Mike’s.
Mike’s approach to his work is at the highest professional standards, from concept to design and proposal through production and final delivery. Mike employs the same enthusiasm and attention to detail when working with small bespoke brands as he does with Local governments, brands, Agencies and the private sector.
