The Legacy Mural by Woke3 Studios in Nashville
The Legacy Mural
The Legacy Mural was created to celebrate and honor the North Nashville community, paying tribute to our elders and the emerging generation. In collaboration with artists C3, Etomik, Keep3, community members, and Liberated Ground, we completed a 4,000-square-foot mural on historic Jefferson Street. Central to the mural is a baton engraved with "37208," the community's zip code, symbolizing the passing of legacy from one generation to the next. The word "Legacy" prominently stretches across the wall in bold orange graffiti style lettering. Throughout the mural, imagery reflects North Nashville's vibrant history and culture, including representations of the three historic HBCUs located on Jefferson Street—Tennessee State University, Fisk University, and Meharry Medical College—as well as iconic figures like Wilma Rudolph running atop books, symbolizing education and achievement.
