The Dream the Almond tree
I was requested to paint a mural on a large 14.7m x 2.5m wall at one of the main intersections of a village on the out skirts of Jerusalem in Israel while I was recently visiting there.
The wall is a retaining wall but holds a significant place at one the most used roads in the village.
I was asked to use my own creativity but keep it neutral, so I decided to paint an epic panoramic scene from the local area.
I incorporated a focal point blossoming almond tree in full blossom. All Israelis know that when the Almond tree blossoms ( usually around Feb - heading to their spring) it is the indication that spring is literally around the corner and signifies the new season.
The images is full of colour, butterflies, bright sunrise, misted morning hills and animals among many local plants and flowers.
While doing this project I was daily thanked by the locals who brought me gifts, invited to dinners, asked to hang out and even had a local make a mini doco of the whole process! It has completely transformed the village and was an absolute joy to work in public over the three and a half week project
