The Big Trout- Adaminaby by Ryan Loughnane in Sydney

I was approached by International Conservation Services, who were looking for an artist to restore Andy Lominici's trout, which is one of the Australia's Big Things. There had been local uproar about the previous repaint work of the trout so I went into the project knowing I had a lot of people to please! I spent a considerable amount of time talking to local fishermen, researching images of the rainbow trouts and playing around with colours to ensure I created a realistic rainbow trout for the town and its many visitors. I used a mixture of Dulux Weathershield via an Ultramax Graco spray gun and MTN 94 spray cans to create the desired textures. The sculpture itself is fibreglass with chicken wire to create the fish scales which was an interesting surface to work with. Thankfully the outcome was a hit with the town, the press, the mayor and the Facebook community!
