Tauranga Street Art Festival - Colourful Mural by Jasmine Kroeze in Tauranga

It was an absolute honour to be part of the first-ever Tauranga Street Art Festival, painting a colourful abstract mural packed with movement, texture, and creative energy. With full creative freedom, I experimented with cut-out collage techniques, layering abstract shapes to explore intersections and contrast. I also pulled in my mark-making techniques—something new for me in mural work—which was incredibly fun to scale up! The design gives a subtle nod to Tauranga Moana’s natural beauty, drawing inspiration from the pōhutukawa tree. These organic forms weave through the composition, connecting the artwork to the local environment. The challenge? A 70sqm wall. Three days. An incredible team of assistants, plenty of coffee, and some long hours made it all happen. The colours, the energy, the team—everything clicked. This might just be my favourite mural yet!
