This mural is painted on a school for children with learning disabilities. I thought it would be a good change to explore my own challenges with ADHD. This mural is about having all the competing thoughts and trying to balance it all, but still managing it. It’s not streamlined, I don’t feel like a regular bird flying with ease, there’s a lot of extra bells and whistles and struggles in order to get soaring but I get there. The two swans represent different parts of me, the side that struggled with disfunction and the side that manages it, they coexist in a complicated way but they work! This mural is about accepting everything that we are and choosing to live positively with it, and it may look weird, my accommodations may seem odd, but I’m embracing it.
