This was a mural in the heart of Richmond, Victoria.
It is an area with a high drug and crime rate, so I wanted to create something that uplifts people and speaks to the strength and resilience of the people who live in Richmond.
Meet the Artist
Melbourne, AustraliaHi Guys,
My name is Erin Haywood. I'm a 29-year-old mixed media artist, from Melbourne Victoria.
My work ranges from oil paintings/acrylic paintings to illustration and large-scale mural work. I've always loved creating work that engages with the community around me.
I am mostly inspired by other artists, in particular those who specialize in realism and surrealism. Symbolism plays a large role in my work, and I love to play with reality vs fantasy.
I always enjoy having a chat to people to get an idea of what they are feeling and then I try to encapsulate that into my work. To me, the art is a conversation of thoughts and feelings. I then try and translate that into something that can be enjoyed by everyone.
