Nous on fabrique des bombes. by YP Murales in Sainte-Thérèse
Mural painted on the ruined walls of a former World War II munitions factory called Plan Bouchard.
Over time, nature has reclaimed the site. It is now a forest dotted with ruins and trails, which the town of Bainville has transformed into a park. The town commissions artists to paint the ruins, creating murals that depict the people who worked there and the dangerous jobs they performed. It's worth noting that the vast majority of employees at these factories were womens, as the men were often away fighting.
Meet the Artist
Sainte-Thérèse, CanadaMy name is Yannick, I live in Sainte-Thérèse, in the suburbs of Montréal, Québec, Canada. I studied visual arts at the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal and then the Université du Québec à Montréal. My work explores the beauty but also the absurdity of our world. Through my paintings, my murals, my photographs, I try to bring together ordinary scenes to give them a new meaning. I like to emphasize the absurd, ironic and funny nature of certain situations and people. I hope that my works will be able to evoke in some the beginning of a reflection on our contemporary society and the issues that surround us. Over the last 20 years, I have developed my own style and my travels around the world have also greatly influenced my vision of things. Hoping that you will enjoy discovering my works. My works are mainly found in Quebec although I love exploring the world, so I do not hesitate to participate in projects wherever I am invited, because travel feeds my work. In the past, among others, I have made murals in Mexico, Honduras, as well as in Winnipeg, Toronto and Montreal in Canada.
