Mt Maunganui Mural - Street Prints

One of my earlier murals, this beauty was commissioned by Street Prints for their Mauao Mural Festival. The inspiration was drawn from the festival theme "Ahakoa he iti, he Pounamu," meaning "Although small, it is precious." Reflecting on the importance of nurturing our children, youth, and environment, I incorporated abstract shapes to symbolize growth and unity. Each element, whether small or large, represents the strength of our community when we come together. During the concept stage, I started paper cut out shapes, then digitized in Adobe Illustrator to refine the balance and scale. I love the final design and the mural is super popular with the community. It created a lot of buzz and is a regular spot for photoshoots!
