Leigh seafood recipe illustration by Sarah Dowling Art in Bristol

Working with Mindfully Wired Communications I was commissioned to illustrate a series of food illustrations, both ingredients spot illustrations as well as the completed dishes to be used across a series of recipe cards and the Leigh Seafood website and social media channels. The aim of the Leigh Seafood project is to promote cockles, an incredible sustainable seafood, that in recent years has fallen out of fashion. The website encourages tourists to try to the local seafood by having a recipe section as well as explaining the history of fishing and cockles in Leigh in a bid to also encourage young people into the industry. Working with a limited pallet to compliment the brand colours of the project, the illustrations created (in a departure from my usual watercolour) in gouache for a bolder, more vibrate look to appeal to the younger audience and help create a buzz around seafood again in the area.
