KId Koala “The Beat Juggle by Mr Monkey in Brough
KId Koala “The Beat Juggle
Acrylic on Wooden boards
x2 of 9
A self motivated idea to do 9 paintings of the Turntablist Kid Koala, titled “The Beat Juggle”
For a particular song of his, his friends and he had to practice the same part of the song over and over for 48 hrs straight, which gave me the idea of doing the same but with a painting. Eric San (kid koala) kindly sent me video footage of him playing the song “swanky panky” in his basement studio. I then screen shotted 9 frames from the footage and turned them into paintings, well 2 of them i did. My live had other ideas at the time on how i nest spend my spare time, which was moving house, sadly I’ve never been able to set myself up to finish the other 7. However I think these 2 are really good, a fine example of my painting skills.

Meet the Artist
Brough, United KingdomI am a Brough based artist who works across most mediums from rattle cans to pens and brushes to software. I’ve painted and drawn all my life, it’s the only thing I’m any good at. I’ve built a name up for myself over the past 12 years or so as MONKEY and I still sign all my work as such now. I’m part of a Birmingham collective called DMC (Distorted Minds Crew) and participate in an exhibition with my cohorts at Centrala to rave reviews a few years back. I’ve done numerous commission pieces for various types of clients over the years and can turn my hand to just about anything really. I do a lot with rattle cans, it’s my favourite way to work. I can paint with brushes on canvas and I’m a dab hand with pens and pencils. I do quite a bit of work for a printer “Cherry Press” illustrations and the like for all number of briefs, I’ve worked with him now for 5 years or more
